1. Lithium primary battery
Also known as a primary lithium battery. It can be discharged continuously or intermittently. Once the power is exhausted, it cannot be reused, and is widely used in electronic products with low power consumption such as cameras. Lithium primary batteries have a low self-discharge and can be stored for up to 3 years. If stored under refrigerated conditions, the effect will be better. Storing lithium primary batteries in a low temperature place is a good method. Note: Unlike lithium ion batteries, lithium primary batteries cannot be charged, and charging is very dangerous.
2. Lithium ion battery
Also known as secondary lithium batteries. It can be stored for more than half a year at 20 ℃ due to its low self-discharge rate and most of its capacity can be restored.
There is a self discharge phenomenon in lithium batteries. If the battery voltage is kept below 3.6V for a long time, it will cause excessive discharge of the battery, damage the internal structure of the battery, and reduce battery life. Therefore, lithium batteries that have been stored for a long time should be recharged every 3-6 months, that is, charged to a voltage of 3.8 to 3.9V (the optimal storage voltage for lithium batteries is around 3.85V), maintained at a discharge depth of 40% to 60%, and should not be fully charged. The battery should be stored in a dry environment of 4 ℃ to 35 ℃ or in a moisture proof packaging. Keep away from heat sources and avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
Lithium batteries have a wide range of application temperatures, and can still be used outdoors in winter in the north, but their capacity will decrease significantly. If they return to room temperature, their capacity can be restored.
Common Models
For cylindrical lithium ion batteries, the model number is typically 5 digits. The following table shows. The first two digits refer to the diameter of the battery, and the middle two digits refer to the height of the battery. The unit is millimeters. For example, the 18650 lithium battery has a diameter of 18 millimeters and a height of 65 millimeters.
